“Detox,” now called “Acute Withdrawal Management,” is often the first and most critical step in a client’s addiction treatment. Weaning someone off of chemical dependency requires careful monitoring by medical professionals. For those clients who arrive at APN Lodge and must immediately go through detox, the goal is to make the process as comfortable as possible. Staff doctors might recommend a medication-assisted detox, such as a Suboxone taper, or other medicines to assist with sleeplessness, anxiety, nausea, and the other common symptoms associated with detox. Detox can be an incredibly intense, multi-day process. However, once finished with the detox process, clients are ready to focus on a treatment program that will specifically address their needs and support them throughout their stay.
